Upcoming vivo X90 series brings V2 ISP chip, new camera features

The vivo X90 series is set to release in the Philippines soon. Here's what users can expect with the upcoming flagship smartphone.

vivo X90 series comes with extraordinary improvements, including the vivo V2, a revamped self-developed chip, as well as new camera features and an upgraded screen.

The compatibility and functionality of the new ISP (Image Signal Processor) by vivo have been significantly enhanced thanks to the latest iteration of AI-ISP architecture. The novel aspect is that various performances in games have improved. Through the use of independent display chips, ProMEMC is able to interpolate game frames to 90~120 frames, allowing for excellent performance in large-scale games. According to reports, the in-depth collaboration between vivo and MediaTek has brought heavy features such as superframe stabilization mode and chip eye protection used in the mobile MOBA game Honor of Kings.

Among them is the adaptive picture quality mode, which is a black technology developed by vivo, MediaTek, and Honor of Kings based on the adaptive loop of MAGT games. After activating this feature and running for 1 hour in over 120 extreme configurations in a 26°C environment, the mobile game's frame rate is close to full frame, and the mean square deviation is just 0.92, reaching the highest level in the industry. Chip eye protection technology reduces the proportion of high-energy visible (HEV) blue light to less than 5 percent, and the degree of the color cast is reduced by 12 percent, ensuring that the screen does not shift color while reducing blue light.

New camera features

The improved image capabilities of the X90 series are the result of two primary factors:

Regarding professional optical systems, vivo and ZEISS have an in-depth partnership and employ multiple process technologies to reduce flare and produce images of night scenes that are pure. It combines the biomimetic design of the cornea of the moth's eye with a subwavelength structure. In comparison to the previous generation of ALD coating, the reflectivity can be reduced by an additional 42.8 percent, enabling the elimination of flare and ghosting. Based on research into the human visual system, vivo's VCS biomimetic spectroscopy technology fundamentally resolves the CMOS color loss issue.

The X90 series is both powerful in terms of hardware and software. Together with ZEISS, vivo developed the Firmament Night System algorithm, which enables users to manually capture professional-grade starry sky photography masterpieces without the need for additional accessories.

Upgraded screen

The vivo X90 and X90 Pro have a 6.78-inch hyperbolic BOE OLED screen and Q9 light-emitting devices for screen durability and design. It satisfies the super retina screen display standard with a maximum resolution of 452PPI, providing users with the most comfortable display for the human eye and immersive visual shock.

Using BOE's industry-leading wide color gamut technology, the screen display DCI-P3 color gamut value can reach more than 115 percent, the peak brightness is as high as 1300 nits, and the display picture quality is crisp, detailed, and vivid. And the content of the display remains legible even in bright light. In addition, the products of the X90 series utilize a new blue diamond pixel arrangement independently developed by BOE, which is capable of displaying ultra-high definition images even when viewing small text multiple times.
